Tough start: Wings starter J.D. Durbin finally got run support but couldn't cash in on it to earn a victory. The Red Wings had scored just one run in each of Durbin's previous two starts (4-1 losses at Columbus and Toledo). He was staked to a 5-2 lead after two innings, but couldn't find the strike zone all afternoon. In four innings, he allowed just two hits but walked five and gave up four runs. A walk preceded two-run home runs by Andy Marte (in the second) and Pratt (in the third). He threw more than 80 pitches. Brent Schoening relieved to start the fifth and allowed one run in two innings. Willie Eyre pitched two scoreless innings and was given credit for his team-leading sixth win (6-2). ~ May 31, 2005 |
