Matienzo New Britain's Babe RuthFirst baseman/designated hitter Danny Matienzo became the Rock Cats' career home run king Wednesday night when he hit his 40th. The homer - his 17th of the season - catapulted him past Kevin West, who hit 39 homers in 2003 and 2004. It came off Reading left-hander J.A. Happ. Matienzo, 25, is also challenging for the all-time RBI spot (166) currently held by West and Jeff Smith (1997-2002). He entered Friday two short. 09/02/2006 Ft.
